Information abounds today on how to detox for optimum health… because of its impressive results! Learning about detoxification methods is a benefit that may reverse fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, skin conditions and a long list of ills. The improvement that occurs from what can be a simple but lengthy process for detoxification will surprise you. Don’t let the word ‘lengthy’ be intimidating – you eat and wash every day, so using these natural cleansing options is not difficult.
Avoid overwhelming your system by doing a gradual program, moving from single cleansers to combinations of purifying natural substances. Confirmation of our body’s ability to heal is a fast and noticeable result when additionally nurtured with fresh natural food, health-enhancing herbs and supportive lifestyle. Further along in this article, I mention the powerful effect of clay detox baths that are formulated to gently target a variety of adverse conditions for removal.
How to detox safely
The first organ to address is usually the colon. It’s best to begin slowly to absorb and draw out wastes from the colon, especially if you have never done a detox routine previously or not for many years. This ensures the colon can more easily handle the extra wastes released as you expand a detoxification routine. After the colon is cleansed, the kidneys are targeted with herbal teas, followed by a liver detox.
When it comes to food, aloe vera is a cleansing and nutrient-rich food that is antifungal and antiparasitic, along with many other nutritional benefits, but effectiveness depends on ingesting the proper quantity for your system and the quality of your source. Another food option is freshly-pressed vegetable juice taken on a daily basis for a few months. If this is too much effort, even a few weekends of juicing is effective as a mild purge and nutrient enhancement that is very beneficial before beginning a focused cleanse with some of the options listed below. These are purifying power foods that are usually taken in the morning on an empty stomach prior to eating, and/or before bedtime.
Liquid bentonite clay – Available in health food stores, it’s not absorbed by our body but is a clay that does attract positively charged ions, which are most often waste particles. It’s important to ask for the edible form of bentonite! It enables us to avoid unpleasant reactions from an overloaded system once selective herbs are added for antiparasitic, antibacterial or antifungal properties. Faster removal of waste with use of a pure clay means fewer reactions of headache, upset stomach or fatigue. Most people find they have more regular bowel movements with this product, but begin slowly to assess your reaction. Start with 1 teaspoon in a glass of water and gradually increase to the one tablespoon recommended. It’s best taken in a full glass of water in the evening, a couple hours before bedtime to ensure nutrients are not lost from its absorption quality. Taken at least one to two weeks every few months, it becomes a healthy maintenance routine. When we remember that sugar and fats are what feed parasites, big or microscopic, it makes sense to limit our intake when in a detoxification process.
Activated Charcoal - If you are one of the few who react adversely to liquid bentonite clay, another filtering option is activated charcoal tablets. Charcoal is effective for its high absorption quality and makes an excellent travel aid to help neutralize food that’s slightly off or to help settle an upset stomach.
Kidney cleansing tea - Being very active in waste removal, a kidney flush is important to prepare for and assist with detoxification. Noticeable benefits may include healthier skin and even blood pressure improvement. Nettle tea, well-known for kidney health, is readily available in health food stores.
For a more focused kidney flush or anyone experiencing early edema with swollen ankles, legs or abdomen… benefit is gained by drinking small amounts of up to 1 cup daily of Dr. Hulda Clark’s kidney tea. It consists of hydrangea, gravel and marshmallow roots combined with fresh parsley and ginger. Her kidney cleanse was made popular by her successful use with patients and her book, ‘A Cure for All Diseases’. The Liver article here is a bit lengthy, but shorter than a book! It gives the why and how for the most effective and simplest liver cleanse.
Water – We all know that our body needs a minimum of 8 to 10 glasses of liquid intake daily, but sometimes we forget how important it is. If you’re not a water lover, flavouring with a small amount of juice, fresh squeezed lime, lemon or peppermint leaves may help. Tasty herbal teas make it easy to consume adequate liquid, hydrating everything from our cells to our brain. Remember that lemon and lime, like apples, are acidic while in the mouth, regardless of how alkaline they become in our system. To protect tooth enamel, swish later with a small amount of baking soda to neutralize acidity or be prepared for a tough go in the dental hygienist’s chair with increased teeth sensitivity.
Clay Detox baths: with 10 cups of clay in each box, this is a very cost-effective detox method. Begin this program slowly as well, using one cup per bath or less, depending on what you are addressing. When not in a weakened state, people often increase to two cups or more for a stronger cleanse. Comparing the cost of a one-cup detox clay bath to IV chelation therapy in the $100 to $120 range per intravaneous treatment, underlines the affordability of clay detox baths. You can purchase or read more on these effective baths here.
How do you proceed on your own? – Tread on the side of caution in the area of herbs where ‘less is more’. Herbs are often combined in a set of three, but take care when combining over three herbs until you are familiar with your system’s reactions. It’s wise to determine how your body responds to a herb before increasing the amounts or quantities blended.
Conditions – While my education encouraged respect of healthy nutrition and detoxification benefits, the strongest teacher was experience. For many, these are easy detox options to incorporate into daily routines, but people experiencing any adverse health condition, including addiction recovery, should start with gentle detoxification that’s preferably done with guidance.
The detox process can strain a system that’s already struggling, but is a vital part of any protocol that targets re-balancing the body for improved function. When we talk about detoxification, we often refer to metabolic waste buildup and exotoxins from air pollution, pesticide and herbicide accumulations from crop spraying, food and hair dyes and synthetic preservatives or synthetic chemicals in processed food. The common occurrence of parasitic infection is not as commonly discussed, but is increasingly being implicated as microscopic parasitic bacteria and fungus that is thought by some doctors to underlie any condition.
Which herbs are antiparasitic? - There are hundreds of medicinal herbs to choose from according to the desired outcome. Choices vary according to the properties of herbs. Various herbs may be selected for brain health, blood cleansing, lymphatic and kidney flushing, skin health, preventive care or relief from particular disease symptoms. If a herbal routine for a particular condition seems confusing, consider seeking guidance from a practitioner – especially a Master Herbalist experienced with medicinal herb use. Many people begin their journey alone and seek guidance later for more targeted effects. Medicinal herbs can be equally if not more potent than drugs, and should not be combined with drugs without knowledgeable guidance.
The main three herbs used for detoxification as antiparasitic herbs are black walnut hulls, wormwood, and clove – which kills parasite eggs. Native Americans traditionally used herbs as antiparasitic agents but both Dr. Hulda Clark and Hanna Kroeger returned these three herbs to popular use in recent decades. That this occurred indicates the positive results people experienced to effectively overcome various health conditions.
In Dr Hulda Clark’s words: “Getting rid of all parasites would be absolutely impossible using clinical medicines that can kill only one or two parasites each. Such medicines also tend to make you quite ill. Imagine taking 10 such drugs to kill a dozen of your parasites! Yet three herbs can rid you of over 100 types of parasites! They are nature’s gift to us.
The herbs are:
- Black Walnut Hulls (from the black walnut tree)
- Wormwood (from the Artemisia shrub)
- Common Cloves (from the clove tree)
These three herbs must be used together.“
Metal detox - The goal of many, a metal detox can only be undertaken safely after all amalgam fillings are removed. Clearing your body of metal accumulation from fillings, vaccinations, use of aluminum foil, hair dyes, preservatives in packaged food and from air pollution is the road to a healthier functioning nervous system and improved memory.
Chlorella is considered a powerful metal detoxer due to its ability to absorb metals from our intestinal tract. Because it does not draw metals out of the tissue, it’s considered safe to use, with or without amalgam fillings. It has the possibility of many other benefits.
Organic chlorella with broken cell walls is the readily absorbed form that may provide a stronger immune system by increasing white blood cell count. Early studies report that it may also provide a healthier digestive system, increased beneficial intestinal flora, promote lower blood pressure and assist to decrease cholesterol levels. Within chlorella’s powerhouse of nutrients are proteins, fats, chlorophyll, vitamins, and minerals. A few people react adversely to ingesting chlorella, but with these many benefits, it’s worth trying. As always, begin slowly.
As with all supplements it is advisable to take anything for a specific time period and then take a break. This ensures your system does not become dependent upon any one supplement which instead, becomes an enhancement.
NOTE: This information is to outline options for optimal health with use of natural substances before encountering illness. It does not aim to replace the guidance of a qualified health practitioner, who is particularly important for effectively coping with any adverse condition.
May you be well!
